44. Does your cause need people to do something? Combine what they need to do with what they want to do.

This is both very simple and very hard. If you can get your cause’s goal to align with people’s goal/interest, it helps to guarantee that they will act the way you want them to act as simply persuading them to do something for their own good isn’t that convincing. However, this requires a great understanding of your target general behavior including aspects that first seem unrelated to your cause. The key is to get they to follow what you want them to do. Although it is better if they can learn to take your cause to heart, it is fine as well for them do the right action for shallower reasons.

 

This is the same for both adults and children. It is somewhat easier if your cause is aiming at children though as blending the preferred action with toys / games or songs and their favorite artists (for a tween targets) usually work as long as you ensure the scalability or practicality.
